loose ends

tied up.

As I sat mourning the temporary loss of my connection to the blogging world on Monday, I knew exactly what I would be posting I was thankful for. It is so wonderful that in those desperate moments of my day (or late nights), when I need just a smidgen of adult conversation to tide me over, I can flip open the lap top and there you all are, conversing with me.

Tuesday. After debating errands and tantrums, I settled upon going to the big box store that I always swear I won't go to ever again....... I looked quite ridiculous, I am quite sure. Two children in the main section of the cart, the baby in the front. Groceries and miscellaneous supplies piled in their laps, and wedged around their bottoms. I refuse to let them walk through the store. It keeps me within my budget, since no extras will fit in the cart, and it keeps many un-suspecting shoppers out of the perils of crashing in to a curious 4-year-old.

Chilling out (chilling, get it?) in front of the yogurt area, I noticed an older woman giving me quite the peculiar look as she overheard my very adult conversation with my very non-adult children, discussing the dilemmas of traditional and soy yogurts (dairy allergies in our household). She even gave a light-hearted remark about how I talk to them as adults. *blush*

So- Thankful Monday (Wednesday- whatever): Thank YOU. Thank you for being my saving grace, my co-workers, my daily adult conversation and ear to listen. Now, on to the other loose ends:

A while back, you all came to my aide for birthday ideas.

A babe in bowling shoes. Perfect.

The pink bowling ball cake, with accidentally perfect "marbling." (if your color isn't mixed consistently, consider it marbling) It was a hit.

And the much requested salsa recipe. (posted below) I finally remembered t0 buy a bag of chips last weekend. An empty jar of salsa and a few hours later, I was a complete woman. Did I mention that I didn't share with my family? Any of it. So good.

If you missed yesterday's challenge, you are missing out. OUT, I tell ya!

So, what are you thankful for today?

  2. Believe it or not, today I am thankful for my Mother-in-law. She is always so willing to help me out whenever I need it. This week alone (and it's only Wedneday) she watched my kids two days in a row, took the oldest to preschool, switch cars with me, took my car to the shop, she's writing down family addresses for me there are like 50, she went shopping with me and helped plan a party, AND she still likes me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  3. I like the bowling ball cake a lot!

eh...I'm thankful that I don't have to take Isaac to school for 2 days after today.

I hope the teachers enjoy their teacher prep (or whatever they are called) days.

  4. Hi Camille, what a cute blog! And I've taken your advice and watermarked my images. :) I'll let you know when the book is all ready.

    And I'm thankful for goats.

I read that you've got dairy allergies, I've been allergic to milk since birth. But last year I discovered something AMAZING. I'm only allergic to COW's milk. Which means Goat and Sheep's milk has no mean side-effects (same goes for their cheese too!). That would have been better than water in my cereal growing up. Soy only gets ya so far. ;)

  5. It was our anniversary yesterday, so I am thankful for a companion to walk this world with. Especially one who loves me so much, treats me so well, appreciates me, cares for me, and thinks I'm hilarious (even though I'm not).

  6. I am thankful for my little side-kick, my two-year-old son. I have to send his big sisters off to school every day and he saves me from being lonely. I'm so grateful for all the sticky hugs and kisses and grins and that I still get to keep him with me all the time!
