CHALLENGE.......time to go!

Suzie Wins!
Yay Suzie! Through blogging circles, I have realized that Suzie enters A LOT of drawings- and she finally won. I can't wait to find out what clock Suzie picks out. Her comment on the Bode22 blog was the winner. She told Meg: I love, love, love your clocks. I may be way out of it here, but I have never seen such original clocks! Suzie, I can't wait to find out which one you pick out.

All day long Sunday, I mentally prepared to be out the door by 5:30 in order to be at our destination on time. I even had extra help with Grandma in town.
Have dinner early? Check
Plan on leaving early for some "buffer time?" Check
Be ready ahead of time? Check
Somehow not make it out the door until 5:40? Double Check.

It was the same with getting the kids ready for church a few weeks ago. Even the night before, I laid out everyone's clothes, just to save those few extra precious minutes the next morning. We didn't even have to be there until noon, but I wasn't taking any chances. That morning, first thing, the kids were bathed. Everyone was ready early. Then, it was just sitting around, waiting for the time to pass. The time to go came and went, and we were still home.

Why is it that no matter how much you plan to be on time, it is often (always) so hard to actually be on time?
My baby, who has recently triumphed the skilled Cheerio to mouth maneuver, somehow has also mastered the have-a-messy-diaper-the-moment-mom-needs-to-put-me-in-my-car-seat maneuver.
I, myself, sabotage every perfect plan I create. My keys- oh, my keys! O' brother, where art they? They start out on their designated hook. As I take them off in preparation to walk out the door, I run back in to the house for the "oops- I forgot to...." task. Then, I must retrace every step, in hopes of quickly recovering wherever I set the keys. I remember one thing and forget another. It isn't just the mommy-brain either. In my college days, my co-workers and boss created a key hook, with a large sign above it reading, "Camille's keys," so that everyone in the office could find them for me.

When I was growing up, all 5 kids in our family took turns watching out the window for the bus. We geared up all morning for the 4 minute warning to actually get out the door.

I can hear myself so clearly (and my siblings): "The bus is turning down the laaannnneeee."

3 minutes: "The bus is at the end of the laaannnneee." Oohh, now it is go-time. Brush the teeth, grab the back pack.

2 minutes: "The bus is coming up the laaannnneee." Frantically run around searching for homework, shoes, etc.

1 minute: "The bus is turning off the laaaannnneee." Don't forget your clarinet! I know, clarinet right? Don't say anything. I know what you are thinking.

I started training to be late when I was 5.

CHALLENGE......time to go!

So simple, right? Should be. Might not be. Could be. Try to be on time to something you are usually not.
Maybe, just maybe even be early.

Just to keep us all motivated, the fabulous Meg, is sharing her time and talents with us! Each person who agrees to the challenge, will get a chance to win their choice of clock from Bode22! One of Meg's clocks was featured in the Better Homes & Garden September magazine? How cool is that? I have an old antique plate I am sending her to make into a clock for the perfect Christmas gift. Or, I might be selfish and keep it. Only time will tell! Ha ha, time will tell.... I am on a roll.

Leave a comment by Friday at midnight. Tell us what clock you love at Bode22 and tell us what you are going to be on time to this week.
Leave a comment on the Bode22 blog and get an extra chance. Take the time to blog about this and get an extra chance. Ooohhh, ahhhh....extra chances.

Um....excuse me, but I just checked the clock and I am running late. Seriously. I am not kidding. Now go. Check out the clocks. Have a great time.

  2. I L.O.V.E. the daisy clock. I was reading your post and saw the clock and thought "Wow what a cute clock." Then I scrolled down some more and saw another awesome clock. Then I read the words!! This is so great!!

Thank you for taking your word thingy off....yes, so annoying!!

I will be on time to our swim class that Connor and I are starting on Wednesday. It's at 9:30 and I'm thinking it's going to be tough to get swim suits, towels, clothes, diapers, other diapers, coats, shoes, bags, ID, and everything all together by then. But I will BE there ON time, cuz I told you I would!

PS If you get offered a million dollars from India, please think of your blogger friend!

  4. Yellow Sunshine Swirl Clock. I like another one better, but this one fits the oldness of my home better. Gotta love the antiques!

I will be on time this week for our foster baby's therapy appointment. I seem to be on time for everything else, but this weekly appointment is a stickler for me.

  8. The Daisy Stitches is too cute!

I've always been a person that will NOT be late, but I admit I always bring it right down to the wire (I always seem to get the kids all ready and then make myself run around wondering what to wear, etc.). So, I vow NOT to do that in your honor!

    Thanks - Stacey

  9. I HATE to be late. But sometimes I am too early to a fault. My personal challenge this week will be to get my daughter to and from preschool within the 10 minute slot allotted and not before (or after!).

I *love* that daisy stitches clock.

  10. I will be ontime to work everyday this week :) Love love love the black and white hibiscus clock.

  11. Love them all, especially the brown and aqua flower plate...it would look splendid in my bedroom. So, I will NOT be 5-10 minutes late to work everyday this week...I will be right on time.

  12. I love the ivory embossed lilies and also the white and black hibiscus!! They are adorable! I will NOT be late dropping my daughter off at preschool..oh or being late to church!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Loving the Daisy clock. The pink polka dot is a close second!

I commented on her blog, too. Very cute!

I actually hate being late. Like, it seriously stresses me out. So I don't usually have trouble making it on time...I just leave a trail of destruction in my wake. My house is always like a battle ground that I have to clean up when I get back home! So my challenge will be to leave on time with things tidy behind me!

  14. I LOVE these clocks. I hate that you have to choose one so I am choosing several! But I love the watering can one or the black and white hibiscus, or the sunshine yellow.

I will be on time to church. Seriously, I only have one child and it just cannot happen for me. What happens when I have more?

    ReplyDelete
  15. It is so hard to choose! But I love the Plum Damask clock!

I have to admit I am an obsessively punctual person. I think I need to work on being less obsessive about it to reduce anxiety!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Those plated are so cool! Its hard to decide on one. I think I really like the Aqua and Brown Flower. Oh and by the way, I am always late. It just seems to alway happen! Everybody who knows me, knows that if I set a time, its not going to happen! lol My goal is to be on time for church. And that is a major one for me. I am always late and it starts at 11:00. Oh i also commented on her blog and posted about this challenge on my blog! :)

  17. I love the Ivory Embossed Lilies it would look great in my kitchen. I also liked the one of a kind silver tray! I am going to take my kids to story hour AND be on time!

  20. I love the Aqua and Brown Flower clock.

I am usually early to everything. WAY to early. I then get annoyed with having to sit there forever. So today I am going to be on time NOT early to my dentist appointment!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I like the sweet pea green plate clock best!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Blogged about this here:

    http://thingsnoonetellsyou.blogspot.com/2008/10/time-stands-still.html

Thanks for the opportunity! All the clocks are gorgeous. I especially love the ivory flowers. Would she consider making one from a plate that I have? (my great-grandmothers china which I don't dare use now.)

  23. They are such cute clocks!! My favorite is the daisy stitches one.
Ohh.. I will admit I am late to everything!!! Everything!! so this will be hard for me. But I will not be late to my sons football practice this Wednesday :)

  24. I love her clocks. I have been eyeing them since I ran across her blog. I love the canary yellow victorian. They are so hard to choose from though.

I will be on time to work everyday this week. I have a law firm with a friend and it takes everything out of me to be on time getting me and the baby out the door and to daycare and get here. Since I have no one to tell me what time I need to be here, I get here later and later. I promise to be on time this week.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I blogged about the awesome giveaway!!! I also love the watering cans!!! So cute!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I LOVE them all! But, my favorites would have to be the Blue Mint Victorian and Daisey Stiches.

I will make dinner on time. . . I starve my family from time to time because I get distracted with other things and we end up rushing to eat and rushing to bed.

  27. I love clock where the numbers are labeled clearly - I've never been good at telling what time it is by the position of the hands alone. So I really love the Sunshine Yellow Polka Dot Plate Clock - it's bright and cheerful, and I can easily read it!

My little boy broke his leg this weekend, and I have an appointment for him on Friday morning. I promise to get there early!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My favorite is the Pink Polka Dot clock. It matches my daughter's decor perfectly. Maybe if I start her early, I can break the cycle of constant tardiness. It's so hard to choose just one thing to be punctual for, but I am not going to be late for Cub Scouts this week :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. For some reason I am in a square clock mood...so the Ivory Embossed Lilies is great, and of course the stitched daisies would be perfect in my sewing room. But honestly all of them are awesome.

I am gonna actually get up when the alarm goes off...and I HAVE to tomorrow as we are catching a flight and have to leave town at 6:30 in order to not be rushes.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm in! I actually love the daisies clock that you put on here. So cute! I am going to be on time to my daughter's soccer game on Saturday. She has to be there 15 minutes early, and we're lucky if we're there 5 minutes early. I vow to be there AT 9:45, maybe even 9:40 this week!! Woohoo!

  31. Meg is awesome, so are her clocks, (Kris says hi!). I really love the tray clock, so beautiful and unique.

  33. I love the watering can...seriously, who thinks of that? Cute, cute, cute!
I'm always early...a bad habit I grew up with. I lived on the laaaaaaaaaane, so I was your warning bell, I couldn't be late! I should try to only be 5 min early to something, that would be new for me!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I left a comment on her blog too.

  35. I love the yellow sunshine swirl!!! I really want that clock!!! So I commented her, there and check my blog for my third chance to win!!!

Thanks for the challenge, and I will definately be on time to drop my son off at school so he actually has time to play with the other children before school starts!!Going to comment on her blog right now...I actually have time to do that right this second :).

  39. Oh and I've made big improvements on being on-time over the past few years. The biggest thing for me is getting up before my kids. If I do that and and get showered and dressed, the day goes much more smoothly.

But I must say Im really talking about church and he has to bring the girls... so that might be why. lol I have left a comment on their blog also.... I am going to blog about this.

Quick question... what happened to the biggest zucchini contest? Any results??

  55. The daisy clock is awesome, as is the berry vine!

Ahh, ever since my new baby was born (I went from one little girl to two!), I haven't been on time *anywhere*. I've decided that I've gotta kick myself in the butt and make me be on time again (I'm a terribly anal person about being on time). We were even late picking up my SIL at the airport from getting home from her mission. Ugh. Can you say Ugh again?

Anyway, I'm now starting to get ready a half an hour before I think I need to. Hopefully that will help the time issue. It's just that breastfeeding takes so long!
