$8.49
On at least a weekly basis, I get sale catalogs from Victoria Secret. I know, I know- say/think what you will- but I love their bras and shoes.....I know, I know, shoes........right? Seriously, they are so cute and about once a year, I starve my family for a week so that I can buy a pair of these shoes.
Last year it was some great knee high brown leather boots. These boots gave me the self-esteem boost that my 8 month pregnant body needed. It was soooooo worth not giving my children Christmas presents....... oh- come on. I am not that terrible of a mother. The dollar store had several fantastic gifts for each of the kids.
So, anyhow.... the catalog arrived last week. I am talking about THE catalog. The clearance catalog. I am a sucker for clearance. My closets are filled with items I don't wear, don't use and won't eat. All for the sake of saving a penny .................and wasting a penny and wasting the little storage I have.
After leisurely perusing the pages, while my baby crawled around in a dirty diaper.....sorry sweetie, mommy is really busy right now.......I came to the swimwear section. There is nothing like seeing supermodels in stringy itty-bitty things to get a post-baby-body feeling a little schlumpy. UNTIL I read: $3.99.
That's right. I, being the brilliant shopper, am ordering a bikini for $3.99. It even has the phrase "spring break" emblazoned across it. I have had 3 children, my belly looks like I have had 3 children, eat a lot of candy, and have been out of college scene for 7 years. Perfect for me, right?
A few years ago, I bought a different bikini on clearance. I should clarify that I have never actually had the nerve to wear a bikini- I don't know that I ever will, but you can't pass up a good deal, right?
Something like that.
Seriously though, I am seeing results from my flabilicious project. Slow results, but still, results. What if, just what if, I get my body to the point where I felt good........dare I say "hot?"..........enough to wear the bikini? It will probably just be worn in my bathroom, with the door closed and when no one else is home. Most likely, just long enough for me to be able to look in the mirror and say, "Oh-yeah, that's right. That is me!" BUT- How cool would that be? In the words of my 14-year-old niece, "like, totally, like cool.'
I realize that I am wasting $3.99, plus the $4.50 in shipping. However, I don't pay for a gym membership. My elliptical came from a pawn shop and my work-out shoes are 8 years old. $8.49 is a fair price to pay for a little self-motivation.

That is so funny! I would never, NEVER buy a bikini no matter how dirt cheap it was. But if that is your motivation, I say KUDOS and way to go!!!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE victoria secret. TMI -- love their boyshorts!
I'm a sucker for a sale too. Just ask my husband. I saved $200 at Target buying $100 worth of toys. Hey, who can pass up a $30 doll on sale for $5. I'm sure use them for Christmas, birthdays ect... hopefully... I can't think about a bikini right now. I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if my maternity clothes will last the entire 9 months :)
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, no we haven't gotten a call from a missionary from Chile. We have had a few hook up on facebook. Was is a good or bad call?
