CHALLENGE.........Grand Re-opening

Furniture stores do it all the time. Car lots too. In fact, I think our local furniture warehouse has "opened" 5 times.
SOOOO- the blog had a makeover, which means it is time to start over! It is the Grand Re-Opening of the Ponytail Challenge.

Back to basics.

Those who have been with me from the beginning- way back 3 months ago, skip ahead. Those who haven't, let me explain. It is so much more than a ponytail......

You know you have one. You have your standard "do." Your hair might be short, maybe long- maybe somewhere in between. Likely though, you do it the same, day after day after day. For me, it is in a ponytail. Not a cute ponytail- a grab the closest stretchy item (rubber band off the rolled up newspaper, the baby's headband, snip some old nylons w/the scissors- sounds crazy, but it works great), reach, slick, twist and voila- 15 seconds and I am ready for the day. Cute eh? Not really, but it could be- if I just took a little time for me.....even an extra 30 seconds to add a part & ribbon. A little pretty instead of a little frump.

Take some time just for you.

CHALLENGE.......Ponytail Challenge

You cannot put your hair in a ponytail for 1 week (If your standard "do" is something else, change that- you get the idea.)

Whatever. I hear your whining now. It is too hot. Are you serious? It is summer time. I have yard work to do. Blah. Blah. Blah.

You will thank me, I promise. Do your hair- you will look good and most importantly of all, you will feel good. I am not saying you can't pull your hair up- just pull it up with a little effort. IE: I can still wear my hair in a ponytail, but I need to actually brush it, part it, use a real hair elastic, and ohhhhhh....my....curl the ends even. Quite possibly, when it is 90 degrees tomorrow, I will put one of those cutesy scarf thingy's around my head too. Don't have a cutesy scarf thingy, but still adamant on a ponytail- (with effort, of course)? I saw a woman at a churchy function using a man's tie. It was darling! Anyhow, my point is...and we all know I tend to get a little off track....do your hair everyday for a week.

Also, seeing how this is a Grand Re-Opening, we definitely need a grand prize. Leave a comment to be in a drawing next week. The winner will receive $$$ from me for her favorite hair salon and/or a beauty supply place, like a gift card to Sally's or whatever happens to be the hair care place to go in the winner's hometown. $20

Put the Ponytail Challenge link button (see column on left), on your blog & get an extra chance. Be sure to let me know about it of course!

Here's to happy hair. Are you in?

By the way- for those who read yesterday's post....I am going to do it. Be prepared - I will be fishing for and needing encouragement. Maybe some of you will even play along.

  1. Well, thanks to the "appointment" challenge...I scheduled a hair cut that had been needed for about six months. So now, I actually want to do my hair. This will help me not pull it up eeveryday. I've had it done since Saturday! Also, I put the link box on my blog.

  13. Can I tell you how much I LOVE this blog - how much I NEED this blog? Thanks to your post I showered, blow-dried and curled my hair today. Left it down all day and my husband actually touched a piece of my hair when he came home, like he was in awe or something! I'm puting your link on both my blogs and crossing my fingers that I win - I could SO use some decent products, now that I'm going to be wearing it down more often. :)

  14. This is right up my alley...in gradeschool I used to wear my hair in a pony tail everyday...and because I have a job where I sit in a cubicle it's become common again... so I'll take the challenge!!! Cute idea!!

  16. I also just put the link on my page - cute. I have to say that most of the time I do my hair (thank goodness for my straightening iron or I would never go out in public), but I will make sure that it's done for the next week. That should be easy as we're going to a funeral and then a business trip with my hubby... can't walk around his colleages without my hair done!

  17. You're under my fav links now. And, I got my hair cut, so I have to do it, and ponytails aren't an option. Thank you. I needed a lift. Hopefully I'll win, then I can get my hair colored. Nothin' better than gettin' rid of grays!. Thanks for all these challenges, they're great for me!!

  18. I will have to do a fancy pony because it will definitely be a pony.

  19. Okay, I'm going to actually take a shower this afternoon, and style my hair. And (gulp) I'll style it every day for a week.

  23. What a fun site...I have such a ponytail problem...I even cut my hair short enough that I couldn't wear a ponytail every day. Then it grew out.

I'm going to link to this on my blog -- I love popping in. Thanks!

  24. I also put the link on my page, thanks to Katie (I saw it on hers and loved it!) I really need my hair cut, it's 112 out here today so I need something lighter! :)

  26. OMG- I am a hair freak fanatic. I would love to win. I can win right?!?! I am not really an "employee" right?!?!?! Your link is already on my page!

  27. I LOVE the new look and even though I have visited before, I so need to do the ponytail challenge. I used to have short hair all my life, grew it out for something different and now I almost always put it in a ponytail...go figure! Anyways, thanks for all of your thought out challenges, they are definitely motivating!

    ~Stacey

P.S. I don't have a blog otherwise I'd for sure put it on; however I put you on my favorites to visit daily!

  28. Okay, I went to a docs appointment on Tues. I actually combed my hair, even though I put it in a ponytail. Most times I don't comb my hair. It is just rake the fingers through it, twist, and put a hair thingy in it. So I think the fact that I tried to make it look nice counts!

  29. I love this site! Everyone needs some motivation to get out of "frump" mode, which by the way, is the mode I'm in 24/7. I have a HS reunion coming up, and this challenge will help me feel less like a "mom" and more like I good looking graduate! By the way, I put your link on my bog because this is great!

  30. I started putting the pony-tail in this morning and your blog actually popped into my head! And not only did I do my hair, but my husband came home, looked at it and said, 'You look cute, honey'....Wow. I can't tell you the last time he said something like that without promting. I will be doing this more often!! Thank you!!

  31. I TOTALLY thought I had commented here already--DARN IT! :)

    So, here I am...s

CONSIDER ME CHALLENGED (in more ways than one!) The ponytail challenge is actually MUCH harder around this time because I KNOW I look better if I do my hair, but it is SO darn hot and humid--and really, if you saw my hair down during this type of weather, you would BEG me to put it in a ponytail.

I am at least trying to do a nicer version of the side-swept bangs and spritz some hairspray--does this count?@! :)

  32. I put the Ponytail Challenge link button on my page! I love your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I will give it a try again. Maybe I will acctually make it a week this time. I also have the link on my blog, and the button. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't do this one very well. I would say about 1/2. However, my house is clean, my yard mowed and weeded, and my garden weeded. I am all ready to go to girls camp. Where I will probably not do my hair for another 4 days! Oh...no blog but if I did I would put your link on it!

  35. I love your blog and the challenges that you send out. I totally needed this challenge! I had a baby 2 1/2 weeks ago and had worn ponytails from the day I had her until I did your challenge. I can't believe what a difference taking those few extra minutes did for me :) Thanks for the challenge!

  36. I found your blog from a comment you left at Musings of a Housewife. Ironically, I found it on a day that I actually did my hair. Well, I did have it up for a bit in my daughter's hair elastic, but whatever.

    Cute blog!

  38. Hi! I would like to open beauty salon. Does anybody have an experience in this business? There are too many options in different salon equipment. Could anybody give me an advise? What store is more reliable to buy Big barrel curling iron and 3 barrel curling iron. I'm choosing between Advance-Esthetic.Com and Spa&Equipment websites.
