Thankful Monday & a Cheesecake

I forgot my girdle when I packed for my class reunion. It was supposed to be the first thing I packed. I was also supposed to leave 4 hours earlier than I did, my house was supposed to be clean, and my kids were not supposed to drink any liquids before the traveling began. Traveling does not always go the way it is supposed to.
After a bit of a rough start, many extra potty breaks and lots of "I Spy with My Little Eye," we made it.
There was of course, the aforementioned scale crisis, but other than that, all things reunion went well. I found not one, but two new shirts to wear- not at the same time- in case anyone was confused about that.
Anyhow, on to the thankful part of this post....reminder that Monday's are now "Thankful Days" at the Ponytail Challenge.

I am so thankful that my reunion is over. Don't get me wrong- I LOVED seeing old friends, old acquaintances- but I LOVED eating my cheesecake last night with absolutely no feeling of "I shouldn't eat this- I need to look thin, blah, blah, blah!"
I LOVED eating all day today- pulled pork sandwiches, pasta salad, cookies, cookies and more cookies, all without the thoughts of needing to look good for some upcoming event. Yippee!
Unfortunately, that green shirt & skinny jeans are still hanging in my closet at home, awaiting my return, to stare me down each and every day. For the last 3 days of my little "mini vacation" at Grandma's house though, I am going to enjoy every morsel, crumb and baked good in sight. And this, I am thankful for!

What are you thankful for today?

  1. I am so glad you had a good time...without the guilt of what you should or shouldn't eat...

As for me, today I am thankful for DATES with my husband...

  2. Glad the reunion is all done. I didn't go to mine, but I went to my husband's with him. You could still tell the normal people from the jocks and "popular girls". You know the type.

Let's see, what am I thankful for? I am thankful for the crayola markers for which my son has been scrubbing walls and such without complaining, so he can earn them. Bribery works... :-)

  3. i'm glad you enjoyed your reunion. i ended up not going to mine last year because of the crazy cost. i wish i did though.

thankful?? hmm...i am thankful that my husband is home again...he's been gone for 2 weeks this month. i'm also thankful for in-laws that are wonderful. and that we can actually consider visiting them a mini vacation. (i know many people that would consider visiting their in-laws a dreaded chore)

  4. I am thankful for taking walks on pretty college campuses. There's a campus within walking distance of our apartment, and it's one of my favorite places to go walking - the trees and the architecture of the buildings are so beautiful. There are two fountains, and an outdoor stone amphitheater. And I feel so refreshed after taking a walk out in the warm morning air, then coming home to our slightly less warm apartment.

  5. I am thankful that long shirts are in style so that I don't have to buy maternity ones to fit over my growing belly.

  9. I am thankful for my 1 hour of "Me" time that I got this morning, because my sister offered to watch my 3 kids while I went to the store. Sisters are the BEST and I have three of them so I am very blessed!

  10. I'm glad you found TWO cute shirts for your reunion! I've been taking a little break from "bettering myself". Is that something that you can take a break from? Oh wait... that's what got me into this mess in the first place!

I am thankful that my husband will be gone 5 months out of this year. (possibly 6) Really I am! It just means that we are OH SO CLOSE to a graduation, a paycheck, a move back west, (fingers crossed) and the opportunity to be a single mother for a month at a time- not only to be able to appreciate the struggles that single mothers have, but to really be reminded how great it is to have a husband that loves me, and our kids. With an intense residency looming- this will help me be patient when I don't see him for a few days at a time. If I can do a month at a time... I can do anything!

  11. I'm a day late, but I'm thankful I have had two healthy pregnancies! My sister-in-law is toughing out a two-month stay in the hospital and we're all just praying the baby makes it and I have it on my mind all day long. I'm sure it is much much worse for her. It has made me realize that although my pregnancies seemed hard at the time, those big healthy baby girls I got at the end were the greatest blessings a mother could ask for.

  12. You were HOT at the reunion. Arms out and all!

I'm thankful that even though we haven't seen each other for 10 years, it seems like I saw my great friends yesterday. They are the best.

  13. Ok, I know it's technically Tuesday, but it's never too late for gratitude, right?

I am thankful for teenage girls who are too young to get a real job and will come play with my kids so I can get a couple hours of sanity! I actually took a shower before noon today (which, by the way, helped out greatly with my ponytail challenge).
